Evaluation Question 3
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Throughout the process of making my final products I have made
sure that I have received feedback from my friends and people of the age of my
target audience. I have learnt a lot from my audience research. I have learnt
what my audience look for in a product and who my target audience are going to
be. From my initial research, I found out that my target audience were interested
in narrative music videos but could not find many of them. Therefore, I wanted
my music video to stand out and be something that they would watch. When making
a product like this it is very important to keep in touch with what the
audience want to make sure that they will watch and read it. In his theory
Andrew Goodwin said that audiences preferred having visuals that fit together with
the song. In my music video, I have used this when the song says, ‘as red as anger
the sun will rise’ and the sun appears on the screen. This helps the audience
to understand the song better and shows that I have analysed the lyrics before I have
made the music video. He also believed that a music video can help to promote a
song and I feel that my music video has done this. The uses and gratifications
theory fits with my audience research as it says that audiences actively seek
specific media to satisfy their needs. My audience research has allowed me to
find out what it is my target audience are looking for so my music video can
satisfy the needs of my audience.
Audience survey and effectiveness
My audience survey was very effective as it allowed
me to decide who my primary and secondary target audience were going to be. It
also let me know what it as my target audience were looking for in the product.
As my research continued I found that both my primary and secondary target
audience had similar likes and dislike although there was a 60 year age difference
between the two people.
How it improved the product
